Consider:

  • People should not be able to buy all 5 starter skills on turn 1
  • People should not see a large number of floors in the earlygame.
  • The decision to dive down hallways should be a little tricky.

Implementation options:

  • Award less blood per staircase.
  • Award less EXP per EXP item.
  • Use a slower curve to reduce the price of skills.
  • Reinstate the 3x5/5x3 side rooms.
  • Generate multiple maps and pick the most well connected one.
  • Add more side skill tracks.
  • Add more consolation prize items.
  • Impose diminishing returns on more of a single stat.
